Oxidized Bitumen 90/15 or Bitumen R90/15 is a semi-solid grade oxidized type of Bitumen Generally. It is known as R90/15 grade as well.
This grade of bitumen is produced by the aeration of pure bitumen, which leads to the oxidation of the bitumen with hot air. In this procedure, hydrogen atoms get into a reaction with oxygen atoms and the result is hydrocarbons with lower penetration and higher softening point than pure bitumen.
Penetration Bitumen 60/70 is a raw material for the production of Oxidized / Blown Bitumen 90/15 and many other grades by passing very hot air through the Penetration Bitumen 60/70, so the oxidation operation begins.
While that process is running, all parameters like temperature, pressure, oil content, etc., must be monitored and controlled. Without accurate monitoring and controlling of the production parameters, desired quality goals will not be achieved. Because of the special rubbery properties of this grade, it can be used in numerous industries.
